From Poultry to Steel

We didn't start out making knives.

For years, our family built a poultry business from the ground up, the kind of work that teaches you patience, discipline, and how to keep a business alive through slow seasons. Then 2020 happened. COVID-19 gutted the poultry trade almost overnight, and a business we'd spent years building had to close its doors.

We were based in a city known for one thing above all else: cutlery. Knife-making runs through the streets here the way steel runs through a blade. So when we had to start over, we didn't look far. We looked at what was already around us, and we started forging.

That's how MHS Cutlery was born, not as a "brand idea" dreamed up in a meeting room, but as a family rebuilding itself with steel instead of poultry, hands instead of machines.

What We Stand For

The knife industry is full of shortcuts: machine stamped blades sold at hand-forged prices, thin sheaths that fall apart in a season, orders that vanish into a support inbox and never get answered.

We built MHS Cutlery to be the opposite of that.

Every blade that leaves our workshop is forged by hand, not cut from a die. Every sheath is real full-grain cowhide leather, not synthetic filler. And every customer gets a real person on the other end if something's wrong, not a ticket number.

We'd rather make fewer knives and stand behind every one of them than flood a catalog with knives we can't personally vouch for.

Why Us, Not One Of The Hundreds Of Others

Search "Damascus knife" and you'll find hundreds of sellers that look almost identical, same photos, same promises, same prices. So why us?

Because most of them care about you until your order ships. We care about you after.

A lot of sellers chase the sale, mark it "delivered," and move on to the next customer. We don't work like that. The moment your knife arrives is when we actually start paying attention, because a knife that looks great in a photo means nothing if it doesn't hold up the way you actually use it.

So we follow up. We'll reach out and ask how the knife's holding up, whether it's doing what you needed it to do, and what we could've done better. Not a survey we'll ignore, your answer genuinely shapes what we build next.

We exist because of the people who buy from us, not despite them. We're not trying to build an inventory. We're trying to build a reputation, the kind that only survives if the knife in your hand still means something a year after you bought it.

Made by people, for people. That's the whole business model.

The Craft

Each blade starts as two different steels, 15N20 and 1095. Folded together by hand, layer over layer, until the pattern is as unique as a fingerprint. From there it's shaped, ground, and oil-quenched to 55–60 HRC: hard enough to hold a serious edge, tough enough to survive actual use, not just display shelves.

Every knife is finished with a handmade full-grain leather sheath, included at no extra cost. Because a blade this good deserves to be carried properly, not shoved in a plastic sleeve.

If you don't see exactly what you want, that's fine, we build custom pieces too. Handle material, blade profile, sheath color: tell us what you're picturing, and we'll forge it.

The People Behind It

A knife is only as good as the hands that made it, and ours are skilled ones, bladesmiths who learned this craft the hard way, through years of practice, not tutorials.

But the people who pack your order carefully, answer your emails, and make sure the right knife reaches the right customer are just as much a part of this as the forge itself. A great knife that arrives damaged or unanswered-for isn't a great experience, so every hand in this process, from hammer to shipping label, is one we trust.

We're not a factory. We're a small team that decided, after losing one business, to build the next one properly.
